Beating Cancer with Natural Medicine – Dr Michael Lam

The renowned Dr. Lam discussed mushrooms as a natural medicine that possesses anti-cancerous effects because it contains beta-glucan; which was proven to exhibit potent anti-tumour activity. For example, Maitake mushroom reigns over the rest when it comes to inhibiting cancer cells. It appeared to stop cancer growth when taken alongside chemotherapy. In another study, Maitake reduced the risk of breast cancer by 80% when taken orally. Early stage breast cancer patients who were given Maitake experienced a 70% growth reduction in cancer cells. As Dr. Lam advised, “When you take Maitake extract with 2,000 mg of Vitamin C per day, it becomes even more effective.” Agaricus Blazei (ABM) has also been shown to destroy and prevent the spread of cancer cells. It has the potential to cure carcinomas, colonic cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer and liver cancer as well.

“…glucans are in a class apart, because those other agents can push the immune system to over stimulation. This means they can make matters worse in the case of auto-immune illnesses such as lupus, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, allergies and yeast functions. Glucans however do stimulate the immune system, but never to the point where it becomes overactive. In addition glucan is one of the few natural immunomodulators for which we know not only the composition but also the mechanism of action.” (Source:

They discovered that beta-glucan can markedly enhance the immune response of mice to injected tumors. In fact Dr. Gordon Ross has shown in some of his studies that Beta Glucan administered alone has reduced tumor weight by almost half in the subjects. (Source :
